At the Paris World Fair in 1900, Mr. Rudolf Diesel’s first engine ran on peanut oil.

This facility is located in a business park 3 km east from Beckum. Apart from supplying business customers with heat, the plant generates 0.7 MWe eletrical power. Sugar beets are used to produce the biogas which is then used in a gas engine to produce electricity.
